Twitch streamers are adopting a creative approach to navigate the platform’s content
LOS ANGELES-Twitch streamers are still stunned that Amazon’s live streaming platform went so far towards emphasizing the “topless” meta before abruptly backtracking on an artistic nudity policy it had announced only two days earlier.
Some Twitch streamers who are part-time OnlyFans models or adult content creators have been pushing at the boundaries of trust and safety by going live naked except for a black censor bar over their breasts and genitals.
When this is written, AVN has already seen several streams of mainstream creators each interpreting the topless black censor bar meta in their own way. According to a Dexerto report, it was reportedly all started by streamer Firedancer.
The Kick and Jerkmate favorite, Amouranth wondrously resumed her spot as a top Twitch streamer with two black boxes of cloth or paper attached to sheer lingerie.
Jen Foxxx and Erica Ray went on a joint stream naked as Indians, with the black censorship bars watching videos.
The Twitch streamer and double Pornhub Award-winning creator Morgpie, who caused controversy for apparently being topless before the camera on her channel, aired much of what she did around the time in question.
In Twitch terminology, a meta means the trend for live streamers. However, the topless meta dates back long before those hot tub metas that became famous in Amouranth and other performers’ programs.
The online database Know Your Meme says that the “topless meta,” also known as the thot (thick ole ho)meta, is a trend on twitch.tv where “mostly female streamers broadcast while they are seemingly naked except for a cropped frame above their breasts and properly covering below.”
It is done to circumvent Twitch’s terms and conditions while increasing viewersand earnings.
According to AVN, Twitch announced a new sexual content policy broadening the audience available for streamers (particularly female streamers) who want to post mature material. On December 13, a policy update permitted the posting of “artistic” portrayals of nudity and sexually oriented activity (including all kinds of art, animation and various styles).
On December 15, the Twitch trust and safety team decided to retract only artistic nudity from its new sexual content policy.
Allie Awesome, an adult performer herself and director of talent recruitment for NSFW live streaming platform ePlay told AVN that creators pushing the limits on a mainstream site like Twitch confused her.
